Utility Submetering Laws and Regulations in New Jersey
*The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities authorizes submetering for industrial or commercial buildings; publicly financed and government-owned buildings; cooperative housing or condominiums; and charitable institutions. In 2005, the Board issued a five-year pilot program for residential submetering of electricity and gas. Residential buildings constructed after August 8, 2011 must install submeters (N.J. Board of Public Utilities Decision, Docket No. WO11060381).
