Moving Your Utilities with Oates Energy?
First it’s important to know that Oates Energy is a third party billing services provider hired by your community or commercial property to bill utility and sometimes other charges to residents and tenants on their behalf. The responsibility to open or close your Oates Energy account is handled by the management team of your property or the owner of the unit. You only need to contact Oates Energy if you have sold your property or are the new owner of a property. If you are a rental resident of an apartment or condominium community, mobile home park or commercial property, you will need to work with the property managers of your property to turn on or turn off your utility services and billing. Here are some additional guidelines:
- If you are renting an apartment, condominium or commercial property and are moving your utilities, your property manager will work with Oates Energy directly to open or close your account based upon your lease dates. All information must come directly from your property manager, we are unable to assist renting residents and tenants directly. However, we are able and look forward to assisting you questions regarding any bills you receive from Oates Energy.
- If have purchased or sold a condominium and are moving your utilities, you must provide your HUD statement or closing documents to Oates Energy to open or close your Oates Energy account. You may email documents to customerservice@oatesenergy.com or fax them to 904-223-9497. We will use the closing date listed on your paperwork to open or close your account accordingly.
- If you a renting a unit from a private owner, the move-in and/or move-out dates must be provided to Oates Energy directly from the owner of your unit or the property management company who manages your unit.
These are the basic guidelines for moving your utilities. Your community or commercial property may have other requirements, you may want to speak with them first.
